You may be difficult to imagine because Malaysia is a tropical country, but in fact there are many hot springs in Malaysia. This is one of the most popular traveling place from Kuala Lumpur(KL) .
Driving an hour and a half from Kuala Lumpur, the capital, to the neighboring state of Pahang.
It is located on the outskirts of the small town of Benton, close to the Genting Highlands, known for its plateau resorts.
In contrast to the scenery of the primeval forest of the rainforest, it is a modern resort facility made of concrete.
There is two hot spring pools, one for shallow children with playground equipment and one for adults with natural source water.
For day trips, you can use the changing room in the shower room by the pool.
The hotel building and cottages are built around the pool, so guests can come and go through a private passage. The cottage has a bathtub like the room bath of a Japanese hot spring inn. There is also a free open-air bath (public hot spring) adjacent to Suria Hot Spring Benton. It looks like a large pond facing the road, but this is also the natural source. People can feel the peaceful atmosphere of using footbaths and visiting picnics.
Guests can use the hot spring pool until 10 pm. The altitude is over 1000m, but I can’t feel the coolness. However, there is a fantastic atmosphere with the scent of tropical jungle plants. The temperature of the source spring is above 42 degrees. Steam spills over the surface of the water, and the silence spreads.
There is nothing in the surroundings, there are only restaurants and shops selling soft drinks and snacks in the hotel.
You should bring some food and snacks with you when you stay. This is Malaysia, Not sold alcohol on-site.
The buffet breakfast is served at the poolside open-air restaurant. From the classic Malaysian breakfast items such as rice porridge and nasilem, bread and egg dishes are lined up. Benton is also famous as a production area of ginger. The menu I’m interested in is ginger soup, which uses plenty of local ginger. Ginger with plenty of ingredients in the light chicken soup is cooked softly. When you eat it, the scent of ginger slightly spreads in your mouth. Supermarkets in Kuala Lumpur, such as Cold Storage, also sell ginger-filled tea from Benton and throat candy.
